BBC NEWS | World | Asia-Pacific | Tokyo remembers 1945 bombing raid

BBC NEWS | World | Asia-Pacific | Tokyo remembers 1945 bombing raid: "People in Tokyo have been marking the 60th anniversary of a massive US night-time bombing raid which destroyed much of the city in 1945.
Several memorial services have been held across the city to remember the more than 100,000 people who died.
The raid was part of an American strategy to try to wear down Japanese morale ahead of a possible invasion.
It has remained controversial because of the death toll, but a ceremony expressed little anger towards the US.
At 1000, Buddhist monks began the mournful service of remembrance in a special memorial hall built in Tokyo's Sumida-ku Ward, which was in the centre of the firestorm caused by the US bombing raid 60 years ago.
The low-key service was attended by Prince Akishino, second son of the current emperor, and grandson of Emperor Hirohito who led Japan into the Second World War.
More than 2,000 mainly elderly residents also crowded into the hall, laying bouquets of flowers and lighting incense. "

Hotmail counters Google e-mail

"Hotmail counters Google e-mail

Hotmail is boosting the amount of storage space for users of both its free and paid e-mail service.
From July the basic Hotmail allowance will be boosted to 250MB and paying customers will get two gigabytes.

The move is widely seen as a response to Google's GMail service which gives all users a gigabyte of storage to keep all their messages.

With the announcement, Hotmail becomes one of a growing pool of e-mail firms offering users huge amounts of storage.

Size matters

Hey i think i like this actor, sound like a nice dude, I think i'd like that movie too

"I, Robocop
Will Smith raps about busting bot outlaws, his secret geek past, and the future of thinking Machines."

"They took a hand mold to create my weapon. It's touch-sensitive and all of that. I keep that stuff. That's part of the deal. If I touch it on camera, it's mine. I have a couple of noisy crickets from Men in Black. I have all my suits. I have my flight suit from Men in Black. I tell my kids, You know the difference between you and me? I make this look good."

"My father always said, "No plan B. It distracts from plan A." Life is lived on the edge. You definitely gotta have the balls for it. We were raised with the concept of trying to save money, and I'm telling you, no, spend every dime on whatever your dream is. Don't have a dime in the bank. Whatever your dream is, every extra penny you have needs to be going to that.

Will Smith, Wired 12.07: I, Robocop

"Wired: you were recruited by MIT, but didn't apply.
Smith: Yeah. I never had any intention of going. My mother graduated from Carnegie Mellon. She was very serious about college, but I wanted to rap.

Wired: Can you imagine what your life would have been like if you had gone?
Smith: I would have made a billion dollars and been broke by now. I've always dreamed of a computerized classroom. You'd come in and the teacher wouldn't have to take roll - every desk would have fingerprint roll. They could track you from one class to the other. Computer engineering would've been the only way for me to go.

This is Serious!: The Next Big Virus Threat: Instant Messaging

"Symantec, makers of Norton Antivirus, says the next big worm is likely to exploit flaws in instant messaging clientsand it will spread faster than any other worm on record.
'Code Red was able infect every vulnerable machine on the Internet in 14 hours. Slammer was able to do it in 20 minutes,' says Eric Chien, chief of research at Symantec Security Response. 'An instant-messaging threat could spread to a half a million machines in 30 or 35 seconds.'"

the Linux Killer

"What has the son of a farmer, a devout Mormon, and the father of seven done to so swiftly earn the honor? McBride has transformed SCO into a legal missile aimed at the heart of the open source software movement. His strategy threatens to undo the progress of Linux and other free operating systems developed by programmers who believe that collaborative efforts have produced the most robust and reliable code.

SCO claims it owns the intellectual property rights to the Unix operating system and that contributors to Linux have pilfered that code. It further asserts that IBM in particular has illegally diverted the SCO family jewels into the Linux system. Every Linux user, SCO concludes, owes it money. To press these allegations - and scare the stuffing out of Linux users - SCO brought out the heavy artillery: Early last year, McBride hired famed litigator David Boies, who led the federal government's antitrust case against Microsoft and represented Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election recount. Back and with Gmail!

Hello people, It's been a while since I post something in the blog, sorry but I've been really busy until today.

Anyway I'm back now and I'll try to post more frequently.

I've got news! Today my dear friends in www.blogger.com gave me an invitation to try Gmail, Goggle's new approach to Email, I got to tell you, it's amazing, u cannot imagine how it feels to have 1 Gb of memory to use in your email, also its the fastest, more efficient interface I've seen in a webmail application! There are some things I miss as a rich text editing interface, also a more complete Contact handler, and maybe to be able to customice more the emails that you send (adding html format and even images). But since we are in test period I can pass without it.

I think this new email services will help goggle keep on kicking some M@soft asses, which is really good for the Internet.

I'll keep you posted about the state of my testing and let you know what I think about Gmail!

for the while its great!!!
Take care see ya!
